Professional career
Dr. Miguel González-Candial, with over 25 years of experience, is an ophthalmologist specializing in Oculoplastics, Orbit, and Lacrimal Pathways in the Oculoplastic, Aesthetic, and Oculofacial Rejuvenation Department at IMO Grupo Miranza Barcelona.
His interests include the development of micro-incision and minimally invasive surgical techniques in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Oculofacial Aesthetic Surgery.
He is the President-Elect of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS).
He completed a fellowship in Oculoplastic, Orbital, and Lacrimal Surgery at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA, United States).
He is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), among others.
He serves on the Editorial Board of ORBIT, a leading journal in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. González-Candial is also an examiner for Oculoplastic Surgery at the European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO).
He has been an invited speaker at ophthalmological and oculoplastic societies in countries such as Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Algeria, India, the United States, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Greece, Oman, Argentina, Australia, France, Germany, and more.
Previously, he served as Head of the Ophthalmology Department at the Hospital Universitari de Girona Doctor Josep Trueta (ICS Girona) and was a professor for the Master’s Program in Oculoplastics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), as well as at the University of Girona (UdG).
